Part of my guitar rig for the past few years has been a Leslie 147. I
love the way this thing sounds, but I'm really sick of hauling it
around and I have to mic it to get enough volume for larger venues. So
in an effort to elliminate this hassle, I set out a couple of weeks ago
to program a patch for the GSP-2101 to replace my Leslie. Well to be
honest, I leave for a 5 month tour next week and it looks like I'm
still going to be draging the damn leslie around. The guys in my group
said this patch was good enough for them, but I'm used to
the real deal, and we've roadies now, so why compromise? Anyway, the
patch that follows should be used in stereo if possible. It loses alot
in mono. I have scaled it down to 1 S-Disk from my original 2 S-disk
version, so that more people can try it. If you have a second S-Disk,
adding a reverb module and a second 4 Way Panner instead of the mono
tremolo for the bass rotor does help the patch a bit.
There are 4 links to the internal CC pedal to control the speed of the
rotors.
Patch Name: One Forty-six (Not quite a perfect simulation of a model
147 Leslie speaker, so I knocked it down a number)
There is an attachment to this document, which is a .bmp graphic block
diagram. If you can't grab it, don't worry. You don't really need it.
Just follow the instructions below and you'll do just fine.

Paramiter settings:
COMPRESSOR
Ratio = 2:1 Personal preferance more than anything. Use what
Thresh = -40 you are comfortable with.
Lvl = 0 db
DISTORTION
Clean Tube
Gain = 8.0 This will depend on your guitar and preferance of
course.
ANALOG EQ
80hz = +6 This is a good starting point for the EQ. I find
that the
160hz = +4 5.12khz needs to be lowered for bright guitars.
My leslie
320hz = 0 isn't very strong above about 4Khz. And the high
freq.
640hz = 0 horn is spinning, so it doesn't point straight at
you most
1.28khz = +4 of the time.
2.56khz = +6
5.12khz = +2
MASTER VOLUME 0db Depends on your guitar etc,etc,etc.
STEREO NOISE GATE ??? This is your call.

have been a 4 Way Panner connected with an EQ on
on output 1, like we've done for the treble
rotor, but it won't fit on 1 S-Disk, so this
is the trade off. Bass is less directional
anyway. Play with the Depth if you like,
but you don't want too much.

Lev 5 = 100 PAN = 0

Experiment with the mix to find what you like. I have mine hooked up to
my External CC pedal.

This patch is tweeked to work with my Gretsch 6119 (filtertron pickups)
and my Ric 370-12 and it works pretty well with them. Neither of which
has hot pickups. My PRS tends to drive this this too hard and too much
distortion makes this sound less like a Leslie. I spent alot of time
dialing this patch in to my guitars, so I'm a little worried about how
this will sound one someone else's system. If you try it, drop me an
Email to let me know how it works out.
Best Regards,
PBAKER
